BREEZE participated in the event "Data-ready for 2027: Supporting National Building Renovation Plans with EU-funded solutions and the EU Building Stock Observatory", organised by the EU Building Stock Observatory (EU BSO) and the OBSERVE project, together with several sister EU-funded initiatives.
The event brought together representatives from EU institutions, national agencies, regional and local authorities, and other key stakeholders involved in the implementation of the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). The objective was to support Member States in translating the Directive's requirements into practical actions and effective implementation measures.
Held shortly after the EPBD transposition deadline, ahead of the submission of final National Building Renovation Plans (NBRPs), and in preparation for the first mandatory transfer of data from national EPB databases to the EU Building Stock Observatory in March 2027, the workshop focused on the role of data and digital tools in driving successful building renovation policies.
Participants discussed key challenges and opportunities related to:
As part of the programme, BREEZE contributed to Session 3, "From building assessment to renovation delivery and reusable data." During the session, Ulrich Filippi Oberegger (Eurac Research) presented "Understanding the building stock and translating evidence into renovation scenarios", showcasing how data-driven analysis can support the development of effective renovation pathways and evidence-based decision-making for the building sector.
The event provided an opportunity for BREEZE to exchange experiences with fellow EU-funded projects, including iEPB, OneClickRENO, openBEP4EU, ReLIFE, and SmarterEPC, highlighting how research and innovation initiatives can support the implementation of European building renovation policies and contribute to more sustainable, energy-efficient buildings.
The discussions reinforced the importance of reliable building stock data, harmonised methodologies, and collaboration between policymakers, researchers, and implementation actors to ensure that Europe's renovation ambitions translate into measurable results.
BREEZE remains committed to supporting evidence-based decision-making and developing practical solutions that accelerate building renovation while improving energy performance, renewable energy integration, and indoor environmental quality across Europe.
